Brightfield AI Academy is an after-school program designed to teach middle school students how to use artificial intelligence tools such as large language models (LLMs), generative AI, and neural networks. The program prepares students for future careers in a world shaped by AI.
Brightfield AI Academy plans to start in select schools in New Orleans, West Michigan, and southeast Florida, with more locations added in the future.
Pilot programs will begin running in January 2026. At participating schools, three 12-week programs will run during the 2026 school year.

Students are guided by on-site instructors and facilitators, supported by virtual industry experts and presenters. This mix ensures both hands-on support and exposure to leading voices in AI. All onsite staff are thoroughly vetted through a rigorous interview process, background checked and fingerprinted, and always supported by other qualified adults for safety.
Program Details
Students meet three days per week—Monday, Wednesday, and Friday—for approximately two-hour sessions.
Sessions typically run from 3:00–5:00 PM or 4:00–6:00 PM, depending on the hosting school’s schedule.
Each program requires a minimum of 5 students and can accommodate up to 20 students.
Students must bring a laptop with internet access. At some participating schools, laptops may be provided, or available for an affordable discounted price.
Enrollment
Pricing is still being finalized, though the pilot program is projected to cost $170 per student per week for 12 weeks.
The cost covers instruction, technology access, healthy snacks, and AI-generated daily and weekly learning summaries for parents.
Healthy snacks are offered during the program. Schools do not need to handle food distribution.
