AI After School Program Instructor (Contract, Part-Time, Nationwide)

Brightfield AI Academy is seeking enthusiastic, technically savvy instructors to lead our structured after-school program for middle school students (grades 6–8). This is a unique opportunity to help the next generation explore artificial intelligence, large language models, and cutting-edge tools in a fun, hands-on learning environment.

About the Program

Brightfield AI Academy runs three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) for two hours per session, over 12-week terms, three times per year. Classes combine games, community-building, expert presentations, guided exercises, and engaging projects with AI tools. Each class has a maximum of 20 students to ensure individual attention.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead in-person after-school sessions (3 days per week).
  • Arrive up to 1 hour before the program begins and stay up to 1 hour after for setup and wrap-up.
  • Guide students through daily lessons and challenges focused on AI, LLMs, and related tools.
  • Foster an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
  • Provide basic technical support and encouragement as students explore new technologies.
  • Collaborate with Brightfield staff to ensure consistency across programs.
  • Uphold safety and classroom management standards.

Requirements

  • Technically savvy; comfortable using large language models, generative AI, and related tools.
  • Experience in teaching, tutoring, or youth engagement is a plus but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, professional, and able to commit to the full 12-week program.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must be available for in-person instruction at assigned school locations.

Schedule & Commitment

  • 3 days per week (M/W/F), 2-hour sessions.
  • Plus up to 1 hour before and after each session.
  • 12 weeks per program cycle; 3 cycles per year (beginning in January).

Compensation

This is a paid 1099 contract position.
Suggested pay rate: $30–$50 per hour, depending on location and experience.
(This reflects 6–8 hours per week plus prep/cleanup, for ~72–96 paid hours per 12-week program cycle.)
