After-School Program Assistant (Contract, Part-Time, Nationwide)

Brightfield AI Academy is seeking caring and dependable assistants to support our after-school AI program for middle school students (grades 6–8). This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with kids, fostering positive environments, and supporting social-emotional learning in a structured program setting.

About the Program

Brightfield AI Academy runs three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) for two hours per session, over 12-week terms, three times per year. The program blends social activities, presentations, hands-on AI challenges, and group reflection, giving students both technical exposure and strong community support.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the lead instructor in creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Help students transition smoothly into and out of the program, including check-in and check-out.
  • Encourage positive student interactions and model strong social-emotional skills.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians during pickup and provide updates as needed.
  • Assist with setup, cleanup, and daily routines.
  • Provide extra support to students who may need additional attention or guidance.

Requirements

  • Experience working with youth, mentoring, or providing student support (formal teaching not required).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Reliable, professional, and able to commit to the full 12-week program.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must be available for in-person support at assigned school locations.

Schedule & Commitment

  • 3 days per week (M/W/F), 2-hour sessions.
  • Plus up to 1 hour before and after each session.
  • 12 weeks per program cycle; 3 cycles per year (beginning in January).

Compensation

This is a paid 1099 contract position.
Suggested pay rate: $20–$30 per hour, depending on location and experience.
(This reflects 6–8 hours per week, for ~72–96 paid hours per 12-week program cycle.)
